A Whole New World

My journey into the world of technology has been a wild ride - one of twists, turns, setbacks, and marvelous discoveries. What I am most excited about is how I have been able to find links that are valuable learning tools for students, parents and teachers. My students were introduced to technology that changed their perceptions: I've taken them past fun and games to thinking, learning, and using technology to answer questions - questions they didn't even know they had!
The student links I found helped students with classroom work (link to online math book) as well as stimulating their imagination for learning. Students used these links to find information and starting places for an inquiry project of their choosing. They also used the links to explore poetry and publish their own. In addition, we created a private class literacy site where students linked blogs where they wrote about the books they were reading. Parent links and links for educators were provided to stimulate thinking and provide an online resource center with easy access that I can continue to update as time goes by.
The pages that I have highlighted above are some of my favorites because they create connections to this new world of technology not only for my students, but for their parents and for me as well. I really had some fun creating the student sites page, where I was able to link pictures to web sites. When students click on the tiger picture , they are linked to animal cams around the world! I'm excited to add more great links as time goes by. Stay tuned!
